New flail head and offset mower assembling line
Custom-made manufacturing
To complete the new assembling and production system, a new flail head and offset mower assembling line have been prepared by Ferri.Ferri already in 2004 changed its own machine assembling system completely and introduced the first automatic assembly line with variable frequency
(see picture 1).

Ferri is the first company to introduce this assembly system in the sector; this requires great managerial reassessment for supplying materials as well as for providing control systems for the product from start to finish.
This new system requires the particular components of the machines to be built according to their specifications before assembly, therefore it is necessary to check the dimensions and the structure of the various components.

Solving this problem is up to Quality Management (see picture 2).

Assembly Line 1 (arm assembly) has pre-assembly subgroup sections, for instance, tank frames (see picture 3) or the first and second arm (see picture 4), as well as the assembly line itself with its ellipse shape.

(picture 5) Final testing benches
Two final testing benches are located at the end of the assembly line (see picture 5), this is where all the machines are tested according to their specifications.
A “time & method” unit has been developed to carry out these stages.
Clearly, this system has increased the quality of the product as well the productivity.
If one of the machines does not meet the specific testing required, the machine is then sent to the “rework” section where non-complying machines are re-examined.

Currently, to complete assembly line 1 (arms) a new assembly line 2 has been put alongside for flail heads and offset mowers (see picture 6).

This is a straight semi-automatic line where 6 cages pass through the tracks and are hauled by an alternating step automatic system. At the end of the line, the cages are sent back to the front line of the alongside tracks, this is done manually. This simple system gives the possibility to alternate assembling of the flail heads as well as the arms and the offset mowers. All the features that form the flail head or the mowers are placed besides the line according to the assembly stages.
At the end of the line, each machine or flail head is examined on a testing bench (see picture 7), then they are packed according to their shipment requirements (see picture 8).

The production system introduced by Ferri increased productivity levels as well as quality control, as each stage of the process is set by precise technical specifications.
Given the internationalization of our distribution network, this new production system was a necessary step purposely set forth by Ferri. Is also clear that the system is constantly developing so that it can meet new customer's demands.
We want to improve the time-to-market and most of all offer competitive quality and services.
