Ferri machine shop was established in 1844 by Giovanni Ferri in Tamara, who worked as a blacksmith for local farming. Since then, as many as four generations have gone by at Ferri’s, bringing the company to today’s international standards. Ferri’s history begins with the tools grandfather Giovanni used to build to relieve the labour of the local farmers and soon arrives to young Ulisse Ferri's engineering tools.
1960 was a technical turning point for the company, which began to apply industrial constructive principles in the development of rotary hoes cutter.
Some of these machines are still in use. In 1969, Ferri produced its first shredder, and in 1979 the first hydraulic hedgecutter marked the company’s entrance in the green-road side maintenance world. Over 17,000 of these machines have been produced so far.
The Nineties saw the erection of modern plants with industrial painting and installation systems.
2004 was the year of another technological breakthrough, with the introduction of automatic assembly lines for hedgecutters and end-product storage and handling systems. In the hedgecutter domain, Ferri is the only European company to have introduced this machine assembly and testing system.
Such operations can only be justified by large sales volumes. 1,500 units a year are produced.
An important technical aspect that has been introduced in the manufacture of hydraulic arms is the forging technique; the forged parts strengthen the construction as well as improving its design.
Ferri’s growth, which has been briefly summarised herein, has these certainties in store for the future: technological and structural improvements as well as more and more accurate quality control methods. As you can see, even after 160 years the entrepreneurial spirit of our family is perfectly preserved, and this is how we want to hand it down to the next generations.

Constant investment in Research and Development.
Our constant endeavour is a prerequisite for tomorrow’s success.
In our R&D department, which is the very core of our business, our engineers apply their know-how and expertise and can take advantage of the most modern technology. Moreover, a specially equipped area develops prototypes of new machines and experiments with new solutions.

Advanced technology aimed at assuring the best quality to each and every component.
At FERRI, component production is partially integrated.
In fact, the most important components - the technological "heart" of our products - are all produced in house.
Each operation is carried out by modern, computer controlled machine tools, ensuring premium quality.
Electronic rotor balancing ensures excellent operational efficiency and extends the life of each FERRI product.
Thanks to the vast experience of our engineers, all production processes are well organised, rational and efficient.
Their constant supervision ensures excellence for every component.

Extra special care in product finishing.
The water-backed painting plant with component degreasing and phosphating stages, the 6 power arm assembly areas, the assembly line for flail heads, the fitting area for mid-mounted power arms all make FERRI’s production extremely flexible and efficient.
